After military service ends, the desire to contribute, connect, and lead remains strong. Clay Veterans programs help Veterans continue serving their community in meaningful ways—on their own terms—while building camaraderie. Through hands-on service projects, volunteer teams, welcoming connection activities, and practical learning workshops, Veterans can stay engaged, share their skills, and strengthen ties both with one another and with the wider Clay County community. These programs honor continued service as a source of purpose, connection, and opportunity long after separation from the military.

Veterans in the Community

VETERANS IN COMMUNITY connects Veterans with opportunities to support and stand alongside others—both fellow Veterans and community members—through small, purposeful volunteer teams. Whether offering companionship, practical assistance, or specialized skills, Veterans continue to serve in ways that reflect their experience and strengths. These connections foster trust, dignity, and mutual respect while reinforcing the role of Veterans as active, valued contributors throughout the Clay County community.

Buddy Up

Buddy Up is a welcoming connection program designed to make it easier for Veterans to take part, especially those who may be hesitant to attend alone. Through relaxed, monthly “bring-a-buddy” activities, Veterans are invited to connect in low-pressure settings that encourage conversation, familiarity, and camaraderie. By focusing on shared experiences and simple introductions, Buddy Up helps Veterans build confidence, form connections, and feel comfortable becoming part of the Veterans Center community at their own pace.

Community Learning Series

Skills-Based Workshops and the Community Learning Series provide Veterans with practical, real-world knowledge that supports life beyond military service. Offered throughout the year at the Veterans Center and with community partners, these sessions focus on topics such as navigating benefits, financial literacy, job readiness, caregiver planning, and estate planning. Led by trusted professionals and experienced peers, the workshops empower Veterans with tools, confidence, and information they can immediately apply, reinforcing independence, preparedness, and continued growth.
